Shimano XTR pedals have always been known in the racing scene for their very good durability and excellent bearings. This is made possible by Shimano's know-how in terms of bearings, forging technology and pedaling dynamics.
Compared to its predecessor, the large contact area has been increased even further thanks to a wider, flattened pedal body. The M9100 pedals therefore offer improved power transmission and more control in technically demanding passages. The shape of the pedals has been further optimized for adverse weather conditions. Thanks to the resulting improved self-cleaning properties, clipping in and out is no problem even in the muddiest conditions. Elaborate seals and high-quality bearings in conjunction with the stainless steel axle guarantee a very long pedal life. For riders who prefer a narrower Q-factor, the PD-M9100 pedals are also available in a version with a shorter axle length of 3 millimeters.
The modified design of Shimano's XTR PD-M9100 SPD pedal compared to its predecessor is hardly noticeable at first glance. However, as is so often the case, the devil is in the detail, as the revised high-end clickies from the traditional Japanese manufacturer have become slightly wider. The increased contact surface on the axle ensures greater stability and a more powerful pedal stroke. The developers at Shimano have also optimized the self-cleaning function of the double-sided clipless pedal to remove mud and dirt.
