The Rekon Race is, as its name suggests, an aggressive tire for bike races or anyone who wants to go fast. In contrast to the normal Rekon, the middle tunnels are flatter. This means you have less resistance to the ground and roll more easily. The more pronounced L-shaped side knobs bite into the terrain and therefore provide the best grip in loose curves and on sloping terrain. With this level of security, you can take riskier rides without having to explore the trail conditions beforehand. The Rekon Race is recommended as a rear tire or front and rear for dry short-distance races.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tires with tube tubes have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of a breakdown is reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other tubeless ready tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, like a real UST tube . This means that the tube can be installed successfully on all rims with standard dimensions the first time the tube is inflated and with little liquid. Even normal MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless installation and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strictly advise against using sealing milk containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and on wide rims they end up with a shape that is too angular and therefore less than ideal in terms of performance. WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 30 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 25 and 30 mm.
MaxxSpeed
The all-new MaxxSpeed compound is undoubtedly one of the most advanced compounds for XC racing. This high-performance silica compound significantly reduces rolling resistance while improving grip on wet surfaces. Compared to the 3C MaxxSpeed, the laboratory test shows a remarkable reduction in rolling resistance of around 25% (with unchanged profile, tire structure and air pressure). During a 90-minute race, this could theoretically mean a time saving of up to a minute.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
